Ceiling Fan Installation Brisbane
Ceiling fans fitted by licensed electricians
Ceiling fan installation across Brisbane southside and Logan starts from $250 with Faze Electrical & Airconditioning. That’s one fan on a standard job, and you get the price in writing before we start.
You choose the fan and we do the rest. Send us the brand and model and we’ll check it suits your ceiling height, the slope and the wiring at the switch before the day.
- A fixed written price before any work starts
- Fitted by licensed electricians, QLD Electrical Contractor Licence 90552
- Fixed to the ceiling framing and tested at every speed
- Certificate of testing and compliance, and a 12 month workmanship warranty
What changes the price of a ceiling fan installation
The wiring already at the spot matters most. Swapping an old fan for a new one in the same place is the simplest job, so it sits closest to the $250 starting price.
- What the fan hangs from: a fan is heavier than a light, so it needs a solid fixing into timber
- Ceiling height and shape: high or raked ceilings need an extension rod or an angled mount
- The controls: a remote or a wall control changes the work at the switch
- Indoors or outdoors: an alfresco spot needs a fan rated for outdoor use
- How many fans: several fitted in one visit share the travel and the set up
Our ceiling fan installation cost guide goes through each one, and the pricing page lists our other starting prices.

Frequently asked questions
How much does ceiling fan installation cost?
It starts from $250 for a standard installation of one ceiling fan. The wiring at the spot, the ceiling height and the controls set your fixed price, and the written quote is free.
Can I install a ceiling fan myself in Queensland?
No. Fitting or replacing a ceiling fan is electrical work, and in Queensland a licensed electrician has to do it. You can choose and buy the fan yourself.
Can a ceiling fan go where a light is now?
Yes, in most rooms, and the wiring can often be reused. We check what the fan will hang from, the switch wiring and the circuit before we fix your price.
Will you install a fan I have already bought?
Yes. Most of the fans we fit are supplied by the customer. Send us the brand and model when you ask for a quote.
Do I get a certificate and a warranty?
Yes. You get a certificate of testing and compliance when the work is finished, and our electrical work carries a 12 month workmanship warranty.

Replacing an old fan, or fitting a fan where a light is now
If you already have a ceiling fan, the support, the wiring and the switch are in place. That’s what makes a like for like swap the quickest job we do with fans.
No fan there yet? In most rooms a fan can go where a light fitting is now, and the existing wiring can often be reused. We look at three things first.
- What it will hang fromPlasterboard alone won’t hold a fan, so we fix into the ceiling framing.
- The wiring at the switchThis decides whether the fan and its light can be switched separately.
- The circuitWe check it can take the fan before we connect it.
No wiring at the spot? A new position needs a cable run, so we quote it once we know the room. Tell us what’s on the ceiling now when you text or call.
Fans with lights, remotes and wall controls
The controls are part of your fixed quote, so there are no surprises on the day.
| Your fan has | What that means for the job |
|---|---|
| A light | Switching the fan and the light separately from the wall can need extra wiring. |
| A remote | We fit the receiver, pair the remote and test every speed. |
| A wall control | It has to be the one the fan maker specifies. A light dimmer is not a fan speed control. |
| A DC motor | Most DC fans run from a remote, so an older wall speed control usually has to change. |
Queensland rules for installing a ceiling fan
A ceiling fan is not a do it yourself job in Queensland. Fitting or replacing one is electrical work, and a licensed electrician has to do it. The Electrical Safety Office says unlicensed electrical work is illegal, with penalties of up to $40,000 for individuals.
Buying the fan yourself is fine. When the work is finished and tested, you get a certificate of testing and compliance. Our guide to how a ceiling fan is installed in Queensland explains what the electrician does and why.
Other jobs we can do on the same visit
Fans are part of our residential electrician work, so it often makes sense to quote other jobs at the same time.
