The Faze team with two vans, two electricians carrying cable and conduit run along a warehouse wall

Electrician cost in Brisbane depends on the job, so we publish a fixed starting price for each common job instead of an hourly rate. Replacing a double power point is from $189, a ceiling fan installation is from $250 and a full single phase switchboard upgrade is from $1,850. Your quote is free, and the price is fixed in writing before we start.

The quick answer

  • Small jobs start low: an LED downlight swap is from $65 and a double power point replacement is from $189.
  • Bigger jobs: a safety switch added to an existing switchboard is from $385 and a full single phase switchboard upgrade is from $1,850.
  • New wiring costs more than a swap on existing wiring. A new double power point is from $245, against $189 to replace one.
  • Emergency call outs are from $165 plus the first hour in business hours.
  • Quotes are free and fixed in writing, and electrical work carries a 12 month workmanship warranty.

Fixed job prices, not an hourly rate

A starting price is the cost of the standard version of a job. Your fixed price is the starting price adjusted for what your home needs, and you get it in writing before any work begins.

  1. Tell us the jobText, call or send the details online. Photos help.
  2. We look at itWe check the job and give you a fixed written quote. The quote is free.
  3. You decideThe quoted price is the invoiced price. If we find something unforeseen, we ring you first.

That means you aren’t watching the clock while we work. You know the cost of the whole job up front.

Running new cable is one of the things that moves a job above its starting price.

What changes the price of a job

Most of the difference between two quotes for the same job comes down to a handful of things we can see on site.

What we look at Why it changes the price
New wiring or existing wiring Swapping a fitting on wiring that’s already there is quicker than running new cable. That’s why a downlight swap is from $65 and a new downlight is from $145.
Access A tight ceiling space, a high ceiling or a solid wall takes longer to work through than an open ceiling and a stud wall.
How many items Each fitting, fan or power point is priced, so the count matters.
The switchboard A new circuit needs space on the switchboard and safety switch protection. An old fuse board may need work first.
When you need us Planned work is quoted as a fixed price. An emergency call out is from $165 plus the first hour in business hours, and after hours costs more.

Bigger jobs start at the switchboard

The switchboard decides what else your home can take. A switchboard upgrade in Brisbane with us starts from $1,850 for a full single phase upgrade. If you only need protection added, a safety switch on an existing switchboard is from $385.

A full switchboard upgrade is from $1,850 for a single phase home.

An EV charger installation is from $1,650 when you supply the charger. Our EV charger installation cost guide explains what moves that price. Not sure what your home needs? An electrical safety inspection is from $295 and tells you where things stand before you spend more.

How to get a fixed price from us

The more we know up front, the closer the first price is to the final one. When you ask a licensed electrician in Logan or Brisbane for a price, send these details so we understand the job before we come out.

What to send us

  • What you want done, and how many of each item.
  • Whether it replaces something or is brand new.
  • Your suburb.
  • A photo of the spot, and one of your switchboard with the door open.

Our electrical work comes with a certificate of testing and compliance and a 12 month workmanship warranty. Our licence is 90552, issued by the Electrical Safety Office. Read more about our residential electrician Brisbane work.

Common questions about electrician cost

Do you charge by the hour?

Not for planned work. We price the job as a whole and fix that price in writing. Emergency call outs are the exception: from $165 plus the first hour in business hours.

Is the quote free?

Yes. The written quote is free, and the quoted price is the invoiced price.

Can I do small electrical jobs myself to save money?

No. In Queensland, electrical work has to be done by a licensed electrician, even swapping a power point. What you can do is check that your safety switches work by pressing the test button.

Why is my quote higher than the starting price?

The starting price covers the standard job. New cable runs, hard access, extra items or switchboard work add to it, and your written quote shows the price for your home.

Our advice

Use the starting prices to set your budget, then get the fixed written quote before you commit. If you’re planning several jobs, book them together and send us a photo of your switchboard, because it tells us early whether the board needs work first.
